Willamette, Colorado is a town that serves as the primary location for Dead Rising, with the mall as its more specific location. Willamette is a small, suburban town in the American state of Colorado. It is located in a valley surrounded by green hills and vegetation. The town is an average American settlement, with restaurants, businesses, homes and schools. Willamette's most popular attraction is the Willamette Parkview Mall, complete with 79 stores and a friendly environment for anyone to relax and shop in.
Outbreak
Its population at the time of infection was 53,594, but then Carlito Keyes released the Ampulex Compressa Giganteus specimens he had gathered in revenge for the original clean-up in Santa Cabeza. The bees he released into the town set off a zombie outbreak, killing and zombifying much of the town's population. After the initial zombie outbreak, they began to multiply. When photojournlist Frank West arrived, there were only two visible "survivors" outside the shopping mall, but he thought it was simply a riot. He had his doubts after there were no loud voices, as, to which Carlito replied, "almost as if everyone was already dead".
Frank cracked the case behind Willamette and escaped along with Isabela Keyes; younger sister of Carlito. He spread the truth about Santa Cabeza and Willamette to the public, forcing the US government to accept some responsibility. They denied any involvement in Willamette, but admitted their had a role in Santa Cabeza. Presumably, Willamette is still abandoned and deserted, and off limits to all.
Trivia
- Killing 53,594 zombies (the town's population), earns you an achievement and the Real Mega Buster.
- Even if the entire population of the town is killed, the swarm of zombies will not end. This is just a game mechanic as the game spawns infinite amounts of zombies.
- During the "Payback" episode of Terror is Reality, Willamette is mentioned by the announcer.
