Welcome to the Family is a mission in Dead Rising 2 and Dead Rising 2: Off the Record involving a man and his new father-in-law who were caught up in the outbreak during their bonding vacation. The two men can be found fighting off the zombies in Shanks.
Summary[]
A larger man, Jack Ellis, can be found cowering in the knife store Shanks, wearing a knight's helmet attempting to protect himself from bites, while his father-in-law, Kenneth Walsh is bravely fighting off invading zombies with a knife. Chuck/Frank enters the store to find Jack wailing and springs into action to defeat the zombies. After the threat has been removed, he gets the pair to accompany him to the Safe House.

Thanks, stranger. The name's Kenneth. Me an' my loser for a son-in-law were trying to "bond", as my daughter says, when this all happened. Follow me back to the Safe House. It's too dangerous out here. Sounds good, but my daughter Kazmina would probably kill me if something happened to her dimwit, poker-fiend of a husband over there.
Help me kill these zombies then we'll talk. Get that dang thing off your head, boy! If you weren't married to my little girl, I'd leave your good-for-nothing ass here! Quit blubbering and help me with these zombies, you sorry excuse for a man! Better see if he's up to leaving. He's the fool over there in the helmet. How the hell is that helmet supposed to help if a zombie bites his arm? Or anything else he's got hanging under that pin head of his... Damn, I can't believe he's actually dead. My daughter's gonna be sad for a while... Aw, shoot! Look at the bright side! Now, hopefully, I won't have any "loser" grandkids. ... ?... You know what? Forget I said anything. Let's just get outta here. Are they all gone? I hate those things! Yeah, but we better get out of here, there are more coming. I can get you to safety. Thanks. Kenneth over there brought me here to make a man out of me. He's my father-in-law, but I don't think he respects me at all. I really love my wife Kazmina, but it's like he doesn't like me at all. Can you help? Sorry, but we don't have time to solve all your problems now. We should go. I was just looking to play a little poker and try to bond with Kenneth.
Right... Let's go. He's gone... I thought my father-in-law was tough enough to outlive us all. I'm sorry he didn't make it, look, we better just go. I can get you to safety. Okay. *Sob* How can I tell Kazmina her father is dead!? Let's just say I tried to save him, okay? |
