The fire extinguisher is a weapon appearing in Dead Rising 2 and Case Zero. Unlike its Dead Rising counterpart, the fire extinguisher in Dead Rising 2 can be used to freeze zombies solid, after which they shatter when struck by a melee weapon, or by simply running into them. Additionally, it has the added bonus of putting out fires. ^[1] Shattering frozen zombies will earn you 20PP for every zombie killed this way. It takes about 3 percent of the fuel in a fire extinguisher to freeze a zombie.

The fire extinguisher is depleted half as fast when used at a distance. At melee range, the depletion rate increases.
