The Blazing Aces is a Combo Weapon in Dead Rising 2 and Dead Rising 2: Off the Record. It is crafted after combining a Tennis Racquet and a Tiki Torch, resulting in a Tennis Racket with a longer handle which fires flaming tennis balls. The balls in question bounce from zombie to zombie, and can kill up to five of them if shot into a crowd. Chuck receives the combo card after escorting the Tape it or Die team to the Safe House.
Even though the tennis racquet is all metal and plastic for the string, it somehow stays engulfed in flames, though the flames might be from the tiki torch.
This game shares a strange issue with other fire-related weapons, including the Burning Skull and the Infernal Arms. When the player holds a Combat Magazine while using it, the 10% PP bonus is halved. Oddly, this is only the case if the zombie dies from the flames. In other words, if the zombie is killed by the impact of the ball, the player receives 550 PP. If it catches fire and burns, the award is only 525.
Although the unpredictable nature of this weapon limits its overall combat-effectiveness, its real worth is in its level-up potential. With 20 uses, and the potential to kill up to five zombies with each shot at 500 PP each, the Blazing Aces has the potential to award the player a theoretical maximum of 50,000 PP before running dry. By comparison, the Knife Gloves (considered by many to be the best all-around weapon in the game) will only award 18,000 (a generous 300 PP per kill x 60 kills).
This weapon can be easily created in Palisades Mall and Yucatan Casino. In the former, there is an unlimited supply of tennis racquets in KokoNutz and a pair of tiki torches under the water slide. In the latter, there are tiki torches everywhere, and a racquet on the ledge next to the Baron Von Brathaus entrance.
